The phrase "broken colour works" by definition refers to the many specialty paint finishes that use techniques found in fine art. The techiniques known as "broken colour works" use transluscent layers of glaze which are "broken" or manipulated over an opaque base coat, creating layers of pattern and color. Broken Colour Works the business was started by Shannon Willey to fill a niche. With both a degree in fashion design from FIT and a degree in Environmental Studies from the State University of New York at Buffalo, Ms. Willey combines a love of the environment with the aesthetic of a designer. By offering custom painted furniture and wall finishes using our various decorative painting techiniques, we fill the needs of interior designers and individuals who have a specific look in mind that they cannot find "ready-made.

Since opening in the year 2000, Broken Colour Works has grown from a business offering custom painted finishes to a full service retail and design business with both a Sag Harbor and Southampton, New York location. We offer home furnishings and accessories inspired by our coastal environment, as well as, decorative painting and design services to suit your environment.
